, Position Overview A member of The Ohio State Universitys Advancement Marketing and Communications (AMC) department, the Marketing Manager has the primary responsibility of developing and directing strategic marketing and communication plans that boost engagement and fundraising for The Ohio State University Alumni Associations (OSUAA) diverse range of 150+ alumni clubs and societies. Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing Strategy and Management, the Manager plays a key part in strengthening The Ohio State Universitys worldwide alumni community, fostering collaborative partnerships with volunteer leaders, and creating a unified and engaged alumni network. The Marketing Manager collaborates closely with the director of alumni engagement, engagement liaisons, and leadership of clubs and societies to ensure alignment of activities with OSUAA organizational goals and to drive measurable activity toward club and society programs and offerings. The ideal candidate will possess an extreme attention to detail, be highly organized and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, be flexible and adaptable, and creatively problem-solve when confronted with challenging circumstances. An active listener and participant in meetings, the Strategist must be a proficient writer and an outstanding editor and proofreader. Department Overview Advancement Marketing and Communications (AMC) provides strategic consultation, content generation, and creative solutions across a variety of channels that achieve marketing and communications objectives for The Ohio State Universitys alumni, donor, and grateful patient audiences. Duties and Responsibilities 50% Partnering with club and society leaders and stakeholders to understand needs. Build collaborative partnerships and nurture positive relationships with volunteer leaders. Provide marketing and communications consultation to Ohio State alumni clubs and societies and their supporting regional engagement officers and society liaisons. Steward marketing outreach aimed at boosting engagement and fundraising, recommending strategies in alignment with OSUAA organizational goals. In partnership with high-performing alumni clubs and societies, develop and direct implementation of outreach strategies to support growth and engagement. Responsible for making recommendations and decisions with a high degree of independence, using strong judgment, strategic thought, consistency, and discretion, in accomplishing objectives. Recommend and repurpose engaging content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, websites, buckeye funders, and promotional materials. Partner in identifying/refining target audiences for digital marketing efforts; consults on audience lists with regional engagement team and BIDS partners and develop journeys based on Continuum phases. Help develop and deliver curriculum for annual Symposium. Builds trust-based relationships with colleagues. Is highly responsive to requests and feedback. 25% Proof and edit all content proposed by club/society volunteers. Working with a digital marketing coordinator and AMC team members, publish content within dedicated web spaces and develop and deploy club/society email marketing. Collaborate with AMC creative team to design and coordinate production/delivery of print projects such as postcards and letters. Manage review and approval of all marketing/communication pieces produced in support of OSUAAs regional engagement program, sharing drafts directly with club/society volunteers and their corresponding engagement liaison. 20% Required to establish and maintain quality standards, deployment schedules, submission criteria, deadlines, etc. Monitor multiple databases and file sharing systems including email list servs; inventory of creative assets (toolkits), project submission protocols, etc. and resolves issues for optimal performance. Set KPIs in support of strategic objectives and identify and track these KPIs to measure the ROI of all digital marketing efforts. Provide regular reports analyzing the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Adapt and refine approaches based on ongoing results to achieve performance objectives. Collaborate with colleagues across the universitys community of practices to ensure that the look, feel and messaging of all marketing/communication pieces are organized, consistent, user-friendly and in alignment with industry best practices including Ohio States brand and style guidelines. 5% Special projects and other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four (4) years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, business or similar field.
